This performance was recorded by Tom Dyer on his TEAC 4-track tape recorder at The Hall of Fame in Seattle in January of 1986, the occasion being the record release party for the Green Monkey Records compilation LP, "Monkey Business.'
I was very much a novice at the recording console in Tom’s studio when I made this rough mix one night, shortly thereafter. I would call the process quick and dirty: I hit “play” on the tape machine and let it roll, beginning-to-end, trying to get some kind of a mix as it quickly went by. I believe the idea at that time was to release this as an album but I was evidently unhappy with my performance ('Kim' is a bit of a mess!) as no final mix was ever made. In fact the master tape is lost and this “official bootleg” was mastered by me from my original mono cassette copy, made that night.
No overdubs/fixes were done, it is what it is. Also of note, there is a bit of an irritating clicking noise evident on some songs ('Time of Year,' being notable) that apparently stems from some kind of delay on the kick drum(!). -Jeff Kelly
